My Internship with BlinkJar Media

What I Learned as a Marketing Intern at BlinkJar Media

Hello everyone! My name is Bella Calloway, and this past spring, I had the opportunity to intern with BlinkJar

Media in Baton Rouge. I’m currently a marketing student at LSU, finishing up my junior year, and I was eager to

gain real-world experience beyond the classroom.

Even before stepping into the office, I was excited to expand my skill set. What I didn’t expect was how much this experience would change the way I think about marketing.

What Makes a Growth-Focused Marketing Agency Different?

From the start, I realized BlinkJar operates differently from what I had learned in school. This isn’t just a creative

agency, it is a growth-focused agency where everything ties back to results.

I used to think marketing was mostly about the creative side, but BlinkJar totally changed my perspective. I learned

how SEO, ads, and design all lean on each other to get results. It’s not just about what looks good on the screen

because the real goal is ensuring every marketing effort actually moves the needle for a business.

This was a huge shift for me. I now realize that successful marketing isn't just about visual appeal, but about what

actually drives sustainable business growth.

What Does Real-World Experience Look Like in a Marketing Internship?

In school, I am used to doing "practice" assignments, but at BlinkJar, my work had a direct impact on real

businesses. On a day-to-day basis, I managed social media for multiple clients using SocialPilot, which was new

to me, but I can now confidently navigate it. I also gained experience with HubSpot, Duda, and Intervals, while

continuing to build my Canva skills.

This responsibility pushed me to learn quickly and see exactly how my efforts contributed to a client's success. I

even got to participate in "Blink of the Week," a structured content strategy where we share the latest marketing

findings.

Here is one I did:

How Do You Build Skills Across SEO, Content, Paid Ads, and Web Design?

One of the biggest advantages of this internship was the opportunity to explore multiple areas of marketing rather

than just one.

I learned how SEO influences content and visibility, how paid ads are tracked and optimized, and how websites

are built not just to look good, but to convert visitors into leads. I also gained experience creating content from

blogs to social posts and understanding how each piece fits into a larger strategy.

Instead of viewing marketing as separate tasks, I started to see how everything connects. That bigger-picture understanding completely changed how I approach marketing.

Why Is Baton Rouge a Great Place to Start a Marketing Career?

Interning in Baton Rouge gave me a unique experience because of the variety of businesses in the area. BlinkJar

works with clients across industries like healthcare, hospitality, construction, and more, which exposed me to

different types of marketing challenges.

Because of the city's size, I also had greater direct access to leadership and strategy. I was not just observing. I

was involved in conversations, meetings, and decision-making.

That level of access helped me grow faster and gave me a better understanding of how an agency operates day to

day.

What Skills Will I Take Into My Future Marketing Career?

One of the biggest takeaways from this experience is how important a strong digital presence is for businesses

today, not just for visibility, but for credibility and even company culture.

I also learned the importance of treating every client’s brand as if it were your own. Rikki emphasized striving for

excellence in everything you do, and that mindset stuck with me.

Beyond technical skills, I gained confidence. I learned how to think more strategically, connect marketing efforts to

real business outcomes, and communicate ideas more effectively.

What Made This Internship Experience So Valuable?

One of my favorite parts of the internship was sitting in on both existing and new client meetings.

In performance meetings, I saw how data drives decisions by analyzing website traffic, ad engagement, and

conversions to adjust strategy. In new-client meetings, I gained exposure to the sales side of the business, which I

really enjoyed.

As someone who is naturally social, I loved interacting with both coworkers and clients. I also appreciated the

opportunities to step outside the office, whether that meant attending photoshoots or luncheons. It showed me that

marketing is not just behind a screen. It is dynamic and collaborative.

I am incredibly grateful to Jared, Rikki, and the entire BlinkJar team for this opportunity. Each week brought new

learning experiences, and I always felt supported.

I never expected to truly enjoy going to work, but BlinkJar showed me what it looks like to work hard, continue

learning, and genuinely love what you do.

Hey everyone. It's Jared. I want to talk about digital advertising , which is one of my favorite topics. Advertising inside ChatGPT is no longer theoretical. It has begun. Confirmed reports show ads now appearing for some signed-in desktop users in the United States. Even more surprising, they are triggering on the very first prompt. That detail alone changes the conversation. For the first time, brands are appearing directly inside AI-generated answers at the exact moment someone asks a question, compares options, or evaluates a decision. That is fundamentally different from search engines or social feeds. And it signals a meaningful shift in how digital advertising will work moving forward.
SEO Scams Explained

Search engine optimization is a marathon, not a sprint. First page rankings do not happen overnight. Promises like ranking multiple keywords in days or guaranteeing first page results are rarely realistic. If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
