The Five Pitfalls Businesses Should Avoid With Email Marketing

Jared Broussard • September 3, 2014

Email marketing is still an essential ingredient in a successful marketing plan. Since we live in an over-communicated world, emails are often ignored, and deleted by recipients. Because consumers today have far greater control over if and when they read emails, marketers must adapt their email strategy to remain worthy in the world of the crowded inbox.

Smart marketers should avoid these five pitfalls of email marketing:

SPAM: Do not buy your email subscribers. Only send email to people who have given you permission. It is better to grow your email database through your content marketing efforts.

ALL CAPS SUBJECT LINE: Great subject lines cause the recipient to open the email and take action. Yelling at prospects will likely prompt the recipient to delete the email instantly.

Fail to Segment List: Segment your email list based on the interest of the recipient. The more segmented the list, the higher the open and click-through rate.

Robotic Writing: Marketers are people selling to other people. Your email copy should sound like an actual human is writing it.

Too long: Less is more. Keep emails short and sweet so the reader may encounter the offer before they are bored and delete the email.

Email marketing is still a critical ingredient of a successful Inbound Marketing strategy. To learn more about how your company should integrate email marketing into your current strategy, give BlinkJar a call!

Hey everyone. It's Jared. I want to talk about digital advertising , which is one of my favorite topics. Advertising inside ChatGPT is no longer theoretical. It has begun. Confirmed reports show ads now appearing for some signed-in desktop users in the United States. Even more surprising, they are triggering on the very first prompt. That detail alone changes the conversation. For the first time, brands are appearing directly inside AI-generated answers at the exact moment someone asks a question, compares options, or evaluates a decision. That is fundamentally different from search engines or social feeds. And it signals a meaningful shift in how digital advertising will work moving forward.

Search engine optimization is a marathon, not a sprint. First page rankings do not happen overnight. Promises like ranking multiple keywords in days or guaranteeing first page results are rarely realistic. If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
