Stepping into the World of Marketing: A Journey of Learning, Fun, and Adaptation

Sydney Boudreaux • April 3, 2024

Hello, it's Sydney. I have been an intern at BlinkJar for the last year. When I first stepped through the blue door at BlinkJar for my internship, I was hit with a mix of emotions. As a finance major, I found marketing to be an entirely new realm, and as with any new endeavor, there was a certain sense of fear. Yet, the warmth and inclusiveness of the BlinkJar team quickly dispelled any apprehension. Under the patient guidance of Rikki Broussard, everything seemed to fall into place, instantly putting me at ease.

BlinkJar's office culture became apparent as I settled into my role. From collaborative brainstorming sessions to new learning experiences, every day presented new challenges and opportunities for growth. Outside the professional development, there were also moments of light-hearted camaraderie that made the experience truly memorable. I enjoyed the holidays when we shared a meal in the office. It was a great way to get to everyone on a personal level.

Another perk is that the BlinkJar office is on the Baton Rouge St. Patrick's Day parade route. This parade was another excellent opportunity to mesh with the rest of the team outside of work.

During my internship at BlinkJar, I had the unique opportunity to experience a hybrid work environment. With one day in the office and two days remote, this arrangement allowed me to adapt to different work dynamics. The office days provided a rich in-person experience, fostering deeper connections with my colleagues. On remote days, I honed my self-discipline, organization, focus, and communication skills, mastering the art of virtual collaboration.

At BlinkJar, I was introduced to various marketing concepts, from search engine optimization (SEO), social media marketing, and marketing analytics. Each new skill broadened my horizons, equipping me with the tools to thrive in the dynamic marketing world.

As my internship at BlinkJar ends, I am thankful for the experiences and opportunities it has provided. Not only have I gained invaluable professional skills, but I have created memories that will last a lifetime. As I prepare for the next chapter of my professional life, I am confident that the diverse workplace experience I gained at BlinkJar has prepared me for any environment that awaits me after graduation.

Why Your New Website Isn’t Showing Up in Google Yet
By Rikki Broussard October 22, 2025
Hey everyone, it’s Rikki here! I like to write blogs based on real questions from our clients. Recently, we launched two brand-new websites on fresh domains. Everything about the design, development, and launch went smoothly, but once the sites were live, both clients asked the same question: “Why can’t I find my site on Google yet? Launching a new website is exciting. After weeks (sometimes months) of planning and building, the site is finally live. Naturally, the next step is to open Google, type in one of your main keywords, and expect to see your business right at the top. But here’s the reality: search engines don’t work like flipping a light switch. It’s completely normal (although frustrating) for brand-new websites to take time before appearing in Google search results . How Google Finds and Ranks Websites When your new site goes live, Google has to: Crawl – Send its “bots” to scan and read the site. Index – Store those pages in Google’s database. Rank – Decide where your site belongs in the search results compared to competitors. Submitting a sitemap and setting up Google Search Console helps Google know your site exists. But discovery doesn’t mean instant visibility; it just means the process has started.
