Announce Your Presence with Authority through a Baton Rouge Ad Agency

Dan Davidson • Sep 27, 2013

“Give him the heat and announce your presence with authority.” Famous words from the movie, “Bull Durham”, and an adage your business should embrace. For Nuke LaLoosh a screaming fastball was the best weapon in his arsenal. As a business owner, your website is yours.  It is the most powerful way for you to be present for your customers and clients. Today your customers aren’t always in your store, or on your phone, they probably aren’t even on your website until they need something. More people than ever are researching and asking questions online. You very well may have the answers to these questions and you need to let people know that. A Baton Rouge ad agency is a great way to accomplish this. A website simply says “I’m here, hope you find me”. A website with relevant, timely content says, “I’m the authority, here’s your answer”.

You don’t need a 98 mph fastball to announce your presence. You simply need the answers to the questions your customers and potential customers are scouring search engines for. The best way to be “present” is to be present on Google. So, how do you put your answers, your website, and your company where it can be found on Google? Simple, you make Google happy. What makes Google happy? Making humans happy. Most of your customers are probably humans, so that works out well.

“Google’s algorithms search for what makes humans happy,” according to Dharmesh Shah, HubSpot co-founder and CIO at Inbound13. What this means is: the way Google discovers answers to search queries is by aligning their findings with the best thing the searcher (customer) would want to read. In other words, it knows to look for relevant, authoritative answers. Here is where you declare your authority.

So we’ve covered where you need to be present, and you how become authoritative, now comes the most important part; how do you announce it? We know that people want answers to questions. We know people use Google to find those answers. We know Google knows how to find those answers. So the last ingredient for this whole, “announce your presence with authority” thing is… the answers.

The content of your website, be it blogs, ebooks, whitepapers, newsletters, so on and so forth is what search engines are looking through to see if they match up with a specific search query. The harder it is for Google to find, the harder it will be for a potential customer to find you. The easiest remedy for this is to use your website as an avenue for frequently asked questions, or common “pain points” you or your salespeople come across on a regular basis. If one customer is asking about “subject X”, so are a lot more. By answering these questions and solving these issues through blogs and other content, search engines find them and customers utilize them. By providing good information you establish your business as an authority in your industry.

In essence, fewer and fewer people are driving around town or dialing through the phonebook (what’s that?) to find answers to questions and problems. They are taking these issues upon themselves and researching on their own. By providing them the answers they seek, they will provide the business you need.

Let people know that you can handle their issues and present yourself as an authoritative destination for their needs. It’s as simple as a good line from a great movie: “Give him the heat (what they’re looking for) and announce (through Google) your presence (business) with authority (the answers)”.
