Advertisers want results, no matter what their particular medium of choice. Additionally, whether we are speaking of Inbound Marketing efforts or traditional mediums, getting results and the expectations of those results are all the same. As the brilliant Roy H. Williams originally wrote in his book, WIZARD OF ADS, results from advertising are much like pushing a car that is standing still and will not start. At the start, you must push with all of your might and put every bit of your power and energy behind the car, and it seems as though the car is barely moving. However, as you continue to push with all your might and engergy, the car (over a consistent time period) will start to progress forward with more and more speed. And as this car starts to progress forward, as long as you continue to consistently push with some energy, the car will continue to advance forward with more and more speed and results.
Results from advertising are no different. In the beginning, you are building a foundation and are pouring a large portion of your efforts into building a campaign. Initially, it may seem as though it is all for nothing. A business owner has poured valuable resources into a healthy advertising campaign, and the initial results are less than satisfactory. However, this notion is a mind game or a trap that can be quite deceiving. Your initial trial period of advertising is the biggest challenge. Just as the initial period of pushing a car is the toughest step of the process.
